Marta Against the Toilet

A girl named Marta with a teddy bear

Toilet training is a significant developmental milestone for children, yet many, including those with intellectual or developmental disabilities, face challenges when it comes to bowel movements. This reluctance can stem from various factors, including fears, discomfort, and sensory sensitivities. Understanding these elements can help caregivers support children through this process.

Developed by the EarlyBrain consortium and financed by the European Union, ‘Marta Against the Toilet’ is a toolkit aimed at supporting parents and caregivers to understand and assist children with developmental disabilities in the process of toilet training. The toolkit includes a story, theorical and practical information.

This Toolkit includes:

  • The storybook ‘Marta Against the Toilet’.
  • Theoretical explanations associated with toilet training.
  • Materials for practical approach to supporting children with developmental disorders in toilet training.
